TIME TO TALK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE VOICE AND META.

Local youth organisation, The Voice Inc, has teamed up with Meta (formerly Facebook), to launch a digital awareness and education campaign “Time To Talk”, to help equip people in Papua New Guinea with skills to stay safe and thrive online.

The “Time to Talk” campaign will hit TV screens, online news sites, social media (Facebook) and radio across the country starting in August raising awareness across 10 key areas for people to champion when connecting with others online, such as respectful communication, how to identify and avoid misinformation, and account security.

“As The Voice Inc (TVI) increases our online presence and interaction with our members, it is important that we continue to encourage safe practices and behaviour online. TVI is proud to be able to partner with Meta as we launch the Time to Talk Campaign within Papua New Guinea and hope that this will be the first of many collaborations in the future”, Maliwai Sasingian, Executive Director of The Voice Inc.

Nick McDonnell, Head of Public Policy, Meta New Zealand and Pacific Islands, said, “We are proud to partner with The Voice Inc. to launch this innovative and creative awareness campaign in PNG. These resources will provide people with the tips and skills they need to navigate the internet in a safe way.

“This partnership builds on our work throughout the region across online safety, disaster response and COVID-19 management. We hope that the “Time to Talk” campaign will enable people to be more informed about how they communicate – not only on Facebook and the internet, but offline as well.” As part of the campaign, a dedicated TV segment, The Gameshow, will air on NBC TV in front of a live featuring questions about the “Time to Talk” campaign, general knowledge questions about PNG and the Pacific and with opportunities for guests in the audience to interact on the night Billboards featuring ‘Time to Talk’ inspired work by local artist, JDOGG, will be installed on the Porepore Freeway in Port Moresby in August – Stay tuned on our EVENTS PAGE.
